Rescheduled
Surgery was rescheduled early this morning, due to the surgeon's illness.
I'm glad she wasn't interested in performing surgery while sick, but it is frustrating. I was prepared! I got up early!
Part of the preparation for surgery involves showering with a disinfectant soap, both the night before and the morning of surgery. Sleeping on clean bedding with clean pajamas. At least I didn't have to do the morning cleansing shower!
The worst part is actually a temporary medication change. I'm on blood thinners because of the clots, but I can't be on the usual meds (a pill) during surgery. So I'm on a “bridge medication” - an injectable blood thinner which is supposed to be out of the body in less than a day, therefore safe to take up until 24 hours before surgery.
The injections are hard for me. My partner does it for me, but I'm left with painful bruising and tender spots in my belly. So I was looking forward to not having to do that anymore and I'm not excited about doing 4 more doses before Friday.
Well, I suppose at least I already have my Surgery Day clothes together.
